The United Nations System, by D. Yúnez
The United Na-tions system was created to prevent war from happening, restoring security, protecting people and advancing human development and social progress. We like to see it as a “Family”, where each and every person works and contributes to making other people secure, protected, loved and wanted, so we can all live in terms of freedom, peace and respect for each other.
That’s why the American School opened a space, for us students, to follow and model this honorable organization in which we are able to learn how to express ourselves, how to talk in a way that we can impact with our words and change people’s perception about life. Taking in a role of any nation, we have to defend and express its position during various debates, considering all the aspects established in the UN charters, while respecting each nation’s point of view.
The purpose of creating this type of performing space is to harvest tolerance, understanding, desire of knowledge, curiosity towards people and cultures, open-mindedness towards new things in students, so that these feelings can make us move forward in life, allowing us to give from our love, engineering our passion and motivation to pursue our dreams.
We completely believe we can make a change in the foundations of this new generation just by a simple debate or discussion, where everyone is included and where support, assertive teamwork, trust and compassion are shown.
