A Must Watch Underrated Movie

Beasts Of No Nation

While in quarantine, the joy of my brother, sister, and I, is to watch movies together.  We spend hours choosing a movie, and in one of that situations we encountered a movie called "Beasts of No Nation."

Beasts of No Nation is a 2015 American-Ghanaian war drama film written, co-produced, shot, and directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga. It follows a young boy, Agu, who becomes a child soldier as his country experiences a horrific civil war.

This movie wants to transmit the suffering of child soldiers, that during hard times they have no other option than fighting and surviving.

Even though this movie is explicit and hard to watch, I admit that is a piece of art. Not all movies are as realistic as this one, which creates a great impact on your conscience.

The director didn't care about the critics that this movie received, countless people said that it was too boring and too realistic. But they didn't realize that he wanted to communicate all the misery and life of these children.

Beasts of No Nation is a film born to disturb the viewer, to raise awareness. The splendid work of direction and interpretation makes us feel involved in something as bloody and savage as a war in which child soldiers take part, moved by helplessness or insecurity. It is a brave and crude project in which all the pieces work with the same objective.

But be careful, if you want to watch this movie you have to have a strong mentality and avoid watching it with children under 14 years old. This movie contains things such as: explicit sexual abuse, blood, and violence that might be too harsh for many.

If you like moving movies, you must watch Beasts of No Nation.
