A Story by R. K. Nayaran: Old Man of the Temple

Setting: Kumbum is 50 miles outside Malgudi or the place exactly is the temple.

Theme : Accepting death, faith and dedication.

Voice : First person by the talkative man./ Narrator: 3rd person..

Mood : Spiritual

Tone : uncertain

Protagonist: Talkative man/narrator of the story

Antagonist: Old man

Conflict : An old dead man named Krishna Battar possesses the driver's body and refuses to accept his death.

( Inner and external with all its categories. )

Man vs man : I think there are two man vs man the first would be when the talkative man is inside the taxi with Doss and they started a little discussion because Doss was saying that an old man wanted to commit suicide so the old man got into the taxi but Doss told him to get out but the talkative man did not see anything he asked the driver if he had taken something that had alcohol in it but he said no, and the second man vs man is when the talkative man talks to the old man about why he got inside Doss's body and if I knew what time they were in because he was talking about a king but at present there is no such thing as any.

Man vs society : The neighbours by the temple are disturbed by the strange noises at their door that do the old man in the night.

Man vs nature : I think there is no man vs nature

Man vs super-power : The old man is able to take over Doss’ body and mind

Man vs self: The old man hasn’t accepted that he is dead and secondly he had nowhere to go to.

Climax : When Doss turned into the old man of the temple and started acting weird.

Resolution (Real one and change it in a few words) :

(Real)The old  man thinks of his wife and leaves. After his departure Doss wakes up and he does not remember what happened since he blacked out. The narrator and Doss continue on their trip, and no one has ever heard of the old man since.
(change it) After they left the temple, more spirits began to come out but this time everyone could see them, the spirits got into the bodies of the people who were near the temple and began to colonize them and after all the people of the country.
