The Machine That Won The War

Internal conflict: Swift conflicts with himself as he decides whether to trust Multivac or

not, but instead he goes with the most simple computing device, a coin, and leaves its fate to flip it.

External conflict

Man vs man: The three men discuss their contributions to Multivac and who really won the war.

Man vs society: Is between the human race and the Denebians, who were in a galactic war.

Man vs nature: Human nature is alway looking for something new and beneficial for  themselves, so machines were created.

Man vs superpower: We think that is the power that a machine could have to cause and win a war.

Climax: Is when Swift explains that he used a much older and smaller computing device to make the hardest decisions.

Resolution: When Swift confessed and reenacted how he uses his machine saying "Heads or Tails?", and prepares to flip the coin.

New resolution: After Swift finished his confession, everyone started to argue and blame the other for what they did. After some minutes, a man was passing by and they all shut up and decided to never tell anyone what they did.

Theme: Doubt and trust because all three men had their doubts in Multivac.

Voice: 3rd person.

Mood: Entertaining

Tone: Ironic

Setting: The setting of this story is in the silent depths of Multivac’s underground chambers.
