El Hombre Caimán

On February the 19th we visited the Malecón,  a site o Barranquilla to visit Magdalena river and  place in which you can observe nature and enjoy a pleasant time with your family. This river in particular has lots of legends about supernatural events that on it. 

The one I'm going to talk about today is the one called "El Hombre Caimán". This legend talks about a man who liked to observe women while they shower in the river. For him to do this without being perceived, he decided to visit a wizard, so he could transform him into an alligator, in that way he could spy the women without being seen. 

So the wizard gave him two potions: the red one that turned him into an alligator and the white one that turned him into a man again,then he went to the river with a friend and he drank the red one, while his friend held the white one, when his friend saw him like an alligator he got scared and he dropped a few drops of white potion into the man, he became half lizard half man, since that day women stopped attending the river for their baths because they were afraid that the "hombre caimán " (alligator man or cayman man) would appear.
