Mental Health: Emotions.

EMOTIONAL MANAGEMENT

The role of emotions in our daily life is working as the key factor in defining the nature of our sentiments and ways we control and manage a situation, but those ways of knowing how to control a situation are fostered by something called Emotional Management, so you may be wondering what this thing called emotional management is.

Emotional management is the ability to realize, readily accept, as well as successfully control feelings in oneself (and sometimes others). Basically, it refers to the ability to master your own emotions.

For you to be developing these skills, being opened to feelings and one's thoughts is not enough; you must have complete dominion over changing your thoughts and feelings that are generated under any circumstance or situation.

Imagine yourself under any stressful situation or something that happened suddenly that may trigger your feelings, how would you react?. In these cases is crucial to know how to manage your emotions, in order to improve them you need to learn or know some steps that may help you:

  • Stop: This takes a lot of strong will power. When you're feeling a strong urge to take an action that you may regret, STOP and THINK!
  • Drop: Engage yourself in something that helps you to calm down. This helps on dropping the intensity of your emotions.
  • Process: Now that you've calmed down you are going to be able to react in a most pacific and appropriate way.

" If you aren't the one who is controlling your own thoughts, feelings, and emotions then you are the one who is being controlled."
