Environmental Short Story

Pollution

Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Carla, who lived in a small village called Sislandium. She was once sent by her mother to the well for her to bring some water home.

Carla changed from her pajamas into some decent clothing and headed outside in search for the well. She followed the rocky path of the village and when she got to her destination she took the bucket she was holding in one hand, tied it to a rope and let it fall in order for it to fill up to the brim with the water of the well.

Once she lifted it, she found out the water was not clear, like
it should have been. Instead, it was a dark brown blackish tone which looked really disgusting. She wondered what was going on, so she decided to look for an answer. She headed to her neighbor’s houses, but at every door she knocked on, the answer was the same.  Every neighbor had gotten the same strange looking water; however, they did not know why.

She went farther down her curiosity lane and decided to look for the magic river, next to the talking tree.
When she went to the river she saw it was the same color as the well’s water, brown. So she asked to the talking tree what was going on. It said that with all the throwing away of garbage by the humankind, the planet was dying and if they did not act right away, soon they all would be dead.

She was pretty concerned, so she did not stay still. She finished college and as soon as she graduated, she started her project and created and organization known as the “Earth Resuscitation Program”, which helped Earth become the same pretty and habitable place, as it was a hundred years ago.
