CRAVING FOR CHOCOLATES
Joel and his friends loved to eat
chocolate. Since they knew that eating a lot of chocolate was not good, Joel
and his friends took a small chocolate bar to school for lunch at recess, along
with some cookies or a piece of fruit.
But one day the chocolates began to
disappear. No one knew who took them.
"Tomorrow we will check the
backpacks before entering the school," said Joel. This will ensure that we
have all the chocolates.
They did so for days. The chocolates
were in the backpacks when they arrived at school. But when it was time for
recess, the chocolates had disappeared.
"It's all right, friends,"
Joel told them. It is clear that they steal them from us at school. We will
have to check the backpacks when entering class.
And that they did. But although the
chocolates were in the backpacks when they entered class, at recess time they
had already disappeared.
"At least we already know that
the thief is in class," Joel told his friends and pay close attention.
The days passed and the chocolates
continued to disappear. But neither Joel nor the others managed to find out who
was stealing the chocolates.
"We will have to take drastic
measures," said Joel. This is the plan. Tomorrow we will smear the
chocolates with a powerful laxative. Whoever eats chocolates will have a
terrifyingly bad stomach ache.
The next day, Joel and his friends
met at the door of the school and smeared the chocolates with the laxative that
Joel had taken.
The first part of the morning was
going on quite normal. Joel and his friends sat there, waiting impatiently for
classes to resume after recess.
"Open your textbooks on page
28," said Don Mateo with his typical calm and chill tone, He was the
Mathematics professor. “In the class of today we are going to start with the
topic ... Sorry, I'll be right back!”
-Where does Mr. Mateo go? - they all
asked out of worry and curiosity.
-Do not! Mr. Mateo no! said Joel, as
he washed his chair to peek out the door.
-Where has he gone? -they asked the
others in the classroom.
"You won't believe it,"
said Joel surprised even himself. He has gone to the bathroom!
Don Mateo spent almost all of the
class time in the bathroom. When he returned, he deerly apologized to his
students.
"I'm sorry, I think something I
ate gave me stomach problems, it was not good for me," he announced to the
class.
Joel and his friends looked at each
other without saying anything, but at the same time, telling each other
everything with their eyes. On leaving, Joel told them:
-The mystery of the missing
chocolates has been solved, guys. Mr. Mateo had a very bad face, I am so sorry
for him. If we had just told a teacher from our classroom instead of taking
matters upon our own hands, we could have totally avoided it. However, what I
still can not understand is how did he take the chocolates away from us without
us noticing.
-When you get out of the classroom
to go to Physical Education, Music or Computer Science -said Mr. Mateo, who
appeared behind them at that time. It seems as he had been listening to them
all along throughout this brief conversation.
Freezed like stone the boys stayed.
With what they had done, the punishment was assured, they were so afraid. But
far from punishing them, Mr Mateo just apologized to them.
Joel and his friends agreed to take
turns to bring an extra chocolate to give to Don Mateo. Nevertheless, with what
had just happened the last thing that Mr. Mateo craved was not even the
slightest bit of chocolate, but anyways he thanked them for their kind gesture.
And that is how it never occurred to him ever again in the slightest to steal
chocolate ever again or even to eat that much chocolate all at once!
