Respect Week: A Healthy Community

On Mutual Respect

Once upon a time, a boy named Daniel had a disorder called autism and everyone in his class made fun of him. Daniel was already tired of being upset, but he never complained about such things. Every day that child was sadder because he felt that his friends did not want him because he was just different, but one day he looked into the mirror, spoke with himself and also with God.

He realized that he was a very intelligent person with values and felt very proud of it. The next day, he had an accident and one of the children who bothered him, despite the fact that the boy was bothering Daniel, decided to help him, so after helping the boy who bothered him, he asked for forgiveness because of the negative things he said about Daniel. Then, he asked the boy who bothered him why he did so, and the boy replied because he was a little strange.

Daniel said he realized that he wasn't like that, then he
forgave him, and added: "but let me tell you that it is not fair to be disturbed because you would not like it to be done to you just for the reason that you look strange or somehow peculiar; therefore, you will be sad,  unless you treat people with tolerance and respect". Right after, he uttered: "when everyone bothered me,  I felt depressed, but one day I reflected upon why they bothered me if I was the same as them"

Finally, they stopped bothering Daniel because he made them reflect on respecting each person in their classroom.

Teaching:
We are all equal, we need to have patience and respect to those people with disabilities, therefore we have to respect them because they can even commit suicide. That is why if you are being bullied, do not hesitate to say it, you can fall into a depression, you can get sick, even you can die from it. To have a good coexistence, among your classmates, is respect waht you need to show. As this phrase says: "the respect you give to others is a clear reflection of the respect you give yourself '', so always keep in mind these types of phrases.
