How To Make From Colombia A Peaceful Country
Colombia is a sovereign state largely situated in the Northwest of South America, with territories bordering Central America, currently presided by President Duque, the capital being Bogota, and only obtaining a single spoken language which is Spanish. Colombia historically and thoroughly has been a very economically unstable country, obtaining a third-world country status, meaning a country in need of resources. Unfortunately, Colombia is a very rich country with a very poor government and it hasn’t been very peaceful throughout the years. Lots of rural areas are being taken over by rebellious and illicit groups of armed forces known as guerrillas, who originally sought the purpose to overthrow the government because of a historic period called the National Front, which was a period of two role-wise interchangeable parties (Liberal party and the Conservative party) that sought to execute two forms of government in the country.
This political structure was first set for a period of 16 years, in which each party would have two intercalated presidential terms. so the guerrillas disagreed with the regime and therefore they gathered up as a paramilitary group of armed forces to fight for what was best for the people of Colombia, who were in need of weaponry for protection, so they had to employ harsh methods to acquire them, and trafficked narcotics for profit. However, the ideologies of the the guerillas have changed throughout history and they have gained the mentality of becoming more powerful than the government. There are types of Guerillas :
The Colombian Revolutionary Armed Forces (FARC): The FARC was a guerrilla movement involved in the continual Colombian armed conflict from 1964 to 2017.
National Liberation Army (ELN): The National Liberation Army is a revolutionary left-wing armed involved in the continuing Colombian armed conflict, which has existed in Colombia since 1964.
The 19th of April Movement or M-19, was a Colombian guerrilla movement. After its demobilization it became a political party, the M-19 Democratic Alliance, or AD/M-19. The M-19 traced its origins to the allegedly fraudulent presidential elections of 19 April 1970.
Popular Liberation Army (EPL): The Popular Liberation is a Colombian guerrilla group created in 1967. Most of its former members demobilized in 1991, forming the Esperanza, Paz y Libertad (Hope, Peace and Liberty) party, but a dissident faction, formerly led by Megateo, continues operating.
So in the face of all of this violence and madness, there have to be number of solutions to be planned right away:
Making and signing a peace treaty between the Ex-President Juan Manuel Santos and the head of the Armed Revolutionary Forces, in terms of decreasing the violence and terrorism, mutilation, narcotrafficking and abduction from citizens was already achieved.
Employing paramilitary troops of defense forces to patrol and protect the lands located within the territories taken by the Revolutionary Armed Forces is another way to achieve peace, if this groups are stopped and also eradicated.
Employing frontiers' surveillances on the border between the rural areas and urban areas in Colombia with security Cameras, patrolling drones that surveil rural areas located with signs of illicit groups and their hideouts' coordinates. So, in conclusion, recovering the governance that Colombia lost due to corrupted politicians that let the guerrilla be enrooted.
