A Better Society For All Of Us

A Better Society For All Of Us: EF Speech

Good morning, I'm Abel Naranjo, an 8th grader from American School, and I'm going to present my hopes for the future of our society.

Unfortunately, we live in a corrupt society, one that believes
that there are people who are in higher positions, they think that the rest of people have to obey them, that they have the control of the entire world, so they take advantage of the people. We live in a society where the authority pays more attention to a person that buys "empanadas", that in real crimes such as  cases where people are sexually abused, are murdered, people that lose all they have because of robbers, a society where presidents promise to make a change in our countries, but around 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy and active life, and this leads to see that every year, a lot of people die from starvation, because they don't have enough resources, because they lack them and they can't get them.

So, what can we do? Do you really want to have a future where you can't go outside without feeling insecure? Are you doing something to contribute to the society?
Unfortunately, in this society we are just like ants, we don't have any power, but together we can make a change.
"Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics"
-Victor Pinchuk

We have to make a change, starting now.
Every second, every moment, a catastrophe is happening, every second a person dies, every second a person is stolen. If we make a change, we can prevent the majority of these cases, for giving to the next generation a better place to live, a world where politicians steal our money, they make us believe that they are going to make a change, but only in Colombia annually corrupt politicians steal $ 22 billion, per month $ 1.8 billion and daily are stealing $ 64 million pesos. With that amount of money, we could have had a much better food provision for those in need, education for children or a better treatment for people who are sick.

So, what can we do?
We always talk about changing the society, but only a few of us are really willing to take the initiative to bring a change. Before taking any such step, we must remember that before changing the society we must change ourselves. Only then, we will be able to change the society.

Also, people of diverse views exist in the society. Some people are extremely leftist, some are of right wing opinion while some may be at the center of any political spectrum which is really wide. So, we have to be prepared to face the criticism of different sections. We have to convince people, make them realize how bad society is today, so everything remains in our hands, if we do not do it, nobody will.

Thanks for having paid close attention to my words.
