EF Challenge Speech by Andrés Ibarra.

What are my hopes for the future of our society?

Good morning.
I am Andrés Ibarra, a Step 10th grader at American School, and today I am gonna display my prospective about which my hopes for the future of our society are.

Nowadays, we sadly live in a society in which we depend on
others and we are disappointed by many, where the words of each one no matter if good or bad, apparently count. People sometimes think that we live in a society where everything is fine, where we all live in harmony; however, this is not the case today, we make decisions depending on what others say, we never make decisions on our own and we finish doing what people want to.

We say that in our society every day the insecurity is having a growth in overwhelming levels, where the value of a cell phone is worth more than the value of a human life, where a bicycle is worth more than a human life too, where the differences are made stronger by the prejudice of the people, the greed has poisoned the souls of the people and it is because we prefer to go ahead alone without thinking about the welfare of others, where we prefer to be the first and not the best, where we always see the bad and not the good in others.

Economically talking, the government has done everything possible, so that everything goes well in our society; unfortunately, people misuse the taxes imposed by the government for the betterment of our society, due to the phenomenon of massive corruption which is enrooted in our society. “Colombia scored 36 points out of 100 on the 2018 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International. Corruption Index in Colombia averaged 34.71 Points from 1995 until 2018, reaching an all-time high of 40 Points in 2005 and a record low of 22 Points in 1998” this information was taken from https://tradingeconomics.com/colombia/corruption-index.

This has led us to become a corrupt society with the sense of looking for quick money and that is why we never prosper as a society, sometimes we give ourselves limitations and we give up because we lose our hopes that everything will improve in our society, where everything seems to be over, but today I want to make a call for all the people who never give up:
Please,  do not lose your faith or hope in our society because the union is strength, I hope that in the future we all could live peacefully, where we can go out into the streets without fearing any threat, where we stop thinking about bad things and think more about helping, and see the virtues of our fellowmen, where corruption is eradicated and everything is invested correctly because by upbringing hard work and with faith in us, we can reach much more, as far as we remember that everything is possible, even the impossible.

Imagine all the people living life in peace

Thank you!
