Street Poem

Street Poem

By Andrea De la Torre

Oh my Street!, what a beautiful street!,
with so many flowers and animals;
beautiful as a sweet garden.
Clean as spring water, and as
spring water we could be reflected on it.

Oh my Street! what a beautiful street!,
that every time people walk by;
as a veneration for her everyone applauded.
Oh Street goddess!, so pure and sacred to all,
What would from people and nature without you be?

Oh Street!, but years have passed and something
tells me people do not appreciate you as in past times.
That trash that is now like contaminating drops
for your spring water, oh no!, oh Street!,
they are taking the shine from your beautiful purity away.

Oh Street! some years have passed and the people
that here wander are a shame for the past wonderful nature.
Plants are no longer fresh and animals do not have how to live,
This garbage has raised the temperature,
that is like a match on a stove.

What can we do now?
It is not your fault that, as a world war,
we are the ones who have battled,
                               just in favor of your destruction.
