Have you ever wondered, how has climate change impacted wildlife already?
There is already undeniable evidence that animals, birds, and plants are being affected by climate change and global warming in both their distribution and behavior. Unless greenhouse gas emissions are severely reduced, climate change could cause a quarter of land animals, birdlife, and plants to become extinct.
The distribution of animals is also affected; with many species moving closer to the poles as a response to the rise in global temperatures. Birds are migrating and arriving at their nesting grounds earlier, and the nesting grounds that they are moving to are not as far away as they used to be and in some countries, the birds don’t even leave anymore, as the climate is suitable all year round.
Also, Humans have already destroyed many of the natural migrations of animals.
We can all help limit climate change, you'll wonder, how?
Save energy at home; Much of our electricity and heating is powered by coal, oil, and gas. Use less energy by reducing heating and air conditioning, switching to LED light bulbs, and energy-efficient appliances.
use bicycles to get from one place to another or walk; The roads of the world are saturated with vehicles, most of which use diesel or gasoline. Walking or cycling instead of driving reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and is beneficial for health and fitness.
Eat more vegetables; Eating more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, and less meat and dairy products, can significantly reduce your environmental impact. Plant-based food production typically generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions and requires less energy, land, and water.
There are many people who have not yet realized how climate change is affecting not only wild animals and their habitats, but also how it is affecting us and I think we are at the perfect time to start making small changes in our lives and help little by little to planet earth with global warming and climate change.
