The Halloween Party
Goodbye, honey! A shooting was heard...
It was a morning on October 31st, Halloween day, everyone was in the school with costumes and masks, you can barely recognize them.
ㅡTrick or treat!ㅡeveryone yelled. The screams didn't stop the bullets from being fired. The screams of celebration turned into fear and horror, people were confused and scared. Someone had been shot that day and another person died.
You can ask all the questions you want, why did I do it? How? but I assure you that I will answer all of them… well, almost.
It was a normal day at the school, we had a Halloween party and the rule for all students and teachers was that everyone had to bring a costume, but it could not be evil or rude, because it´s a catholic and christian school and they prefer to abstain to disrespect someone's religious ideals and also to prevent all of those “theories” about what Halloween means or celebrates.
The students were using all kinds of costumes. Lots of Harry Styles, BTS, Billie Eillish and other famous people, food clothes and House of Paper were the most common costumes, they were all in the same room dancing and yelling the lyrics of a song, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, a total masterpiece.
They used to be in the performing arts room but at some point of the night some of them were sneaking around the field and hallways. Some teachers took turns to keep an eye on the students of what they were doing out there, but there was no one. The students got out of control, many were made out, others fought, others were dancing improperly and as always there was the group of those who comment on everything.
ㅡGuys you should come here!ㅡSerena tried to get everyone’s attention. ㅡIt is time for the contest!
I hated this school, I was a high school teacher, it was horrible, the young people were unbearable and very hormonal. But there was a certain student, who made my blood boil every time I saw him. Charles was his name and I'm telling you because he died, well they killed him. Charles was very intelligent, much more than me. He always interrupted me in class to correct me about something wrong I said and the students began to boo me because it was incredible how a student knew more than the teacher herself. I wanted him dead.
At that exact moment, it was my chance to go out and do what I had to do. I went to the green point and dug up my gun that was stuffed in an iron truck with a padlock. I walked straight to the kiosk and waited for my prey to come out.
ㅡHey What are you doing here?ㅡCharles asked me. ㅡWould you help me bring the sodas?ㅡHe added. My plan was going perfectly, just like I had planned.
ㅡSure, I'll help youㅡI answered.
In the dining room most of the teachers were walking or preparing the food. I waited for everyone to have gone back to the salon. I “Accidentally” spilled some soda on the floor and asked him to go find a mop to clean it. I followed him, and pointed the gun while cornering.
ㅡI couldn’t wait to do thisㅡ I said to myself. And I did it. I killed Him… at least that's what I thought.
It's very weird, I was going to kill him but I didn't. Why? Because he was a student with a future and if he was smarter than me, then the one who was in the wrong was me. But if I didn't kill him, then who did?
From one moment to another there were two boys and a girl in the same room as me, Serena, Augustin and Charles, who were on the floor bleeding, dead and me.
Augustin had a gun, but I knew he hadn't done it, it was her.
The room was full of people, they shouted and were crying with fright, they called the police and minutes later the sirens were heard, they had arrived and they handcuffed us all 3, forensic and legal medicine was checking the body, they didn't find anything.
They asked us questions and everything indicated that I had done it, the students said that they noticed a certain attitude of ear towards him on my part, which was true, I was going to kill him and it was the truth. I have been in prison for 4 years and the real criminal after 4 years decided to send a letter to the judge....
Present Day
“Months before that event. I mentalized to be prepared myself. At the beginning, I doubted if I could do it. But I, Serena, are (am) accepting it in this letter. I don't plan to say my reasons, I will take them to the grave, just like everything else.”
ㅡReady for liberty?ㅡasked my lawyer.
