Once on a Thursday evening I went to McDonalds because I was hungry for a burger, like really hungry, so I went to get one. While I was in line waiting to order, I saw this kid who bought a big Mac and it looked so delicious that I couldn't wait to get mine. The line was long, extremely long and elapsed 30 min later that felt as an eternity.
Finally, I was able to order my big Mac with super size fries and a soda, to eat them at home. On my way out, I saw Ronald Mac Donald who was displaying a show for little kids and it reminded me of my childhood, we can be so innocent, yet so naïve, I thought about the fact that those shows are strategies for enterprises like McDonalds to engage the kids for life with their products and I was one of those kids.
When I got to my car, I saw a big Mac on the floor and heard someone crying in the back. It was the kid who was in front of me on the line, he had dropped his food and he didn't have any money to buy another one. I felt so bad for him, being angry, frustrated and hungry can be really tough; then, I offered to buy him another one. The guy kept crying and he was really grateful, he even offered to wash my car, but I told him it was fine.
I felt great about doing that and it made me think about the fact of how important money is, for some people it is normal to have it and for others it is a privilege. I like making money and having it, but what I obviously like the most is what I can do with it, I can buy comfort and help others, what an amazing thing!
