Valentina Acosta Fonseca From Belgium, who arrived in Colombia with the first shipment of vaccines from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, brought with her the first 50,000 doses of vaccines.
It must be taken into account that the first container that arrived in the country is the very first dispatch of a block of 1,650,000 that will arrive in the next three weeks, according to the president and that they comprise the first wave of vaccination against covid-19 .
In the country's accounts, the Government has purchased 10,000,000 doses of Pfizer, 10,000,000 doses of AstraZeneca, 9,000,000 doses of Janssen, 10,000,000 doses of Moderna and 2,500,000 doses of Sinovac, additional to the more than 20,000,000 doses that the Covax mechanism will provide, for a total of 61,500,000 doses, equivalent to 35,250,000 Colombians to be vaccinated.
"From the first moment we set ourselves the goal of massively vaccinating Colombians, so that by the end of 2021 we would have vaccinated more than 35 million of us, about 70 percent of our population, which will allow us to be close to immunity of herd and be able to face 2022, leaving behind the fears of the pandemic ", previously indicated President Duque.
