Consequences From A Non-Endemic Species

In the 80's  Pablo Escobar brought to Colombia Hippos because of his exentricities. No one cared and it became a turist show to see them, some even forgot about the fact that he brought them.

The issue with these animals is that they can be really cute but they are repoducing fast and here in Colombia there are no predators for them so the population is growing bigger and bigger every day endangering the habitat of many animals in magdalenas river . 

They can't be spayed because is too expensive for the government. And the posibbility of them being killed is on the table. 

This is clearly a really sad event because those poor animals don't deserve to die but at the same time they are not natives from here, and the fact that they brought them here was the mistake in the first place. Now they are going to be sacrificed because of some governmental bad decisions.
