Homerito, the dog's whose story has travelled around the country causing indignation.
Maria Fernanda his owner narrates this terrible incident through and Instagram post, in which she claims that this is the outcome of an extremely poor management. She states that she previously emphasized that she would be traveling with her dog only, yet when she arrived at the airport she was told the dog couldn't be with her and had to be put in te cargo area, the reason being the company's policies. After being told that she would miss her flight she agreed and specified that Homerito had to be put in a safe place were he could breath ad feel comfortable. As soon as she landed she raced to pick him up and found the heartbreaking situation.
"When I got off the plane I ran to see him, to receive him with eagerness and I found a shocking scene; he was under all the suitcases, lifeless. They didn’t settled him in the right place and didn’t give him enough room to breathe."
The company simply gave her his body with no explanation, yet as soon as this story travelled the country the company developed a response stating that the owner did not submit the medical certificate of emotional support dog and vaccination card, which is why the dog could only travel in the cargo area. As well, the claim they've been transporting animals for almost 13 years with 0 incidents.
"As transporters we are unaware of the health conditions with which animals approach aircraft, as well as the special physical, emotional, temperature or pressure conditions that the animal can withstand during the journey, so its owners are the appropriate people to determine if, after complying with the aeronautical regulations, the animals can travel"
This definitely is a heartbreaking situation and leads travelers unsafe on whether their dog should go in the cabin or not, specially after Maria Fernanda claimed Homerito had multiple suitcases on top of his wooden crate.
