A Sound Of Thunder

Author:

Ray Bradbury

Setting:

There are two settings that are the office and the jungle.

Characters:

Eckel, Travis, Lesperance and the other hunters.

Exposition:

The exposition of the story is when Eckel enters the office and sees the sign of the safari, showing that he was excited for this journey.

Rising action:

The man in the office tells him what happened to the last 6 hunterr, after that they start travelling the time machine and in a moment Eckel stepped out of the path and killed a butterfly.

Climax:

The climax is when Travis realises that Eckel killed a butterfly and that he could just alter the timeline. Then they arrived back in 2055 and Eckel realised something was different at the place but was exactly the same.

Falling action:

Eckel sees the sign different and perceives a weird smell. He also asked who won the election, and it was a different president.

Resolution:

Travis realised what Eckel did so he shot him.

New resolution:

Travis realised what Eckel did and tried to shoot him but a chemical gas started getting inside the office and all of the people inside of the room died by choking, but they weren’t the only one, all the people from the streets were too.

Conflict:

Man vs Self is present when Eckel rejected to hunt the dinosaur even though he went to that with that purpose and he knew that; Man vs Man is shown when Travis first tried to kill Eckel; Man vs Nature it's when Eckell killed that butterfly and the future changed; Man vs Society is shown when Eckell suggested that they should took the dinosaur as trophy but Laperance and Travis told him that they shouldn’t cause that could affect the future.

Theme: The theme of this story is that everything happens for a reason and we just shouldn’t question why. Everything that has happened in the past, has happened for a good reason, and this applies to every single thing in life.

Voice: The author wanted to show us with a story that everything has a good reason, and that if something was made or done, it was like that for a purpose.

Mood:

During this story I felt intrigued and i think this is the type of books where you read a little piece and you want to read more, because if you don't then it doesn't make sense. I wasn’t expecting that type of ending and I kind of felt unsatisfied with it cause I think they should've made something to make the future the way it was.

Tone:

The author used kind of a complex vocabulary, but it not only helped us learn new words, but also the words used made the story look old.
