Four men had been locked up for years without any evidence or anything, just because someone had put all the blame on them.
As in those times, the punishments were very strong and really painful, they were assigned one of which they had to hang. At least this was a faster way to die.
Then, the day came. They had already lined up and the rope had been placed around their necks and everything was ready.
People were happy that they were killed, because they continued to believe that they were the murderers and that they were a serious danger to society.
But right at that very moment something very unexpected happened. The real killer climbed onto the platform they were on and cleared up everything. He said that he had killed those people and they had nothing to do with the matter; moreover, that he could no longer bear the guilt of what he had done with his hands.
After that happened, they released the four men and were then free to go around the town. People continued to distrust them. All the misfortunes that happened in the town were related to them. They put the blame on them as used to.
After a while people forgot everything, but something happened again ... Someone had committed a crime once more... As it was clear, people did not trust those four and they felt uncomfortable with them in the town.
One day, there was a meeting of the city council and it was decided that they would be thrown out of town permanently. The fault was with the people who would not stop talking about the matter quickly.
