Roads of the Future
London, year 2054
Hey I’m Sebastian, I was born in the year 2034 in Damascus, Syria. As you know the Syrian Arab Republic has been under an endless civil war ever since 2011, that’s like AGES ago. I also identify as a Brit, considering I have always lived in London Town, my favorite place in the world. After my mom and dad who are both doctors decided to stop their worldwide trip in order to have children on the year 2032, my brother Zach was born and 2 years after that, I was adopted as a brand new baby by my loving parents, I also have a baby sister who’s only 2 years younger than me her name is Victoria.
My mom is a surgeon and she is also an academy award winning actress, she is incredibly talented and happens to be a billionaire business woman as well, she owns an engineering company and mainly builds roads and bridges for different countries. My dad on the other hand aside from being a doctor, is also a business man, who is one of the major investors of Mercedes-Benz. They are both road tech pioneers and have put the world into a process of modernization these last few years.
My dad built and designed a levitating G wagon, that was the start of the “flying” car industry currently being publicized mainly by Elon Musk & Dad. Due to this invention, my mom had to reinvent the way in which roads were made, she started to design what she called “future roads” which sounds weird to me cause they are just current roads, honestly I’ve been to places where there are still old roads like on the soil, my mom thought us that they where made in asphalt and that cars would roll over them ToUcHiNg the ground, that is so weird. My parents own a classic car collection so I do know how cars used to work.
My parents are not that old, they are actually really young, my dad started designing the levitating G wagon when he was 17 years old, on the other hand, my mom started her company when she was just 22 and became successful shortly after, she really is a rockstar and so is my dad.
Roads today are not made of asphalt, after aliens were confirmed and came to visit the earth, they helped us by bringing different materials that we didn’t know existed. Aliens from andromeda our sister galaxy brought a gas-like material that is solid yet it does not occupy space. It’s called Dionide nitrate, nitrogen taken from our ground and Dion molecules taken from Akuaippa their home planet. They look like platforms, lanes are now vertical so accidents are weird, currently everyone is required to own a levitating car, regardless of its brand. The levitating G wagon is the most famous one as it was the first ever car that didn’t need asphalt roads and my dad has been updating it every year, we have 3 of those at home, they are awesome.
Traffic lights are not stuck in the ground like they used to be according to my mom, they are now added to the Dionide nitrate vertical lanes and when the lights go red, they deliver a force field like cover that is impenetrable to prevent accidents. If an ambulance were to rush by, the field would allow only the ambulance to pass through, the same happens with cops, doctors and diplomats. The material does not occupy space in the sense that you can’t really touch it, but it is there. It is also environmentally friendly as it does not produce any kind of pollution and levitating cars are mostly electrical or work with sun panels.
Given that there was a catastrophe on the year 2030 due to the contamination and pollution that came from carbón dioxide emissions, earth had to almost reinvent itself completely. People everywhere are forced to recycle, the law states that there are only 2 kids allowed per family and you may adopt however kids you like but you can not give birth to more than 2 in order to control overpopulation, we still have many issues we need to deal with to make earth better but hey at least we’ve got cool “roads”. I hope I get to change the world just as my parents did.
