“Mind is very restless, forceful and strong, O
Krishna, it is more difficult to control the mind than to control the wind.” -The Bhagvad Gita
The mind is a powerful place. It is the main center of
our body and is responsible for our thoughts and feelings. Within it, there’re
2 types of Intelligences: IQ and EQ.
EQ (or Emotional Intelligence) is an intelligence
where oneself can control their issues interpersonally, or intrapersonally. We
can appraise and express emotions whichever we want to, but we must be careful,
for we can get carried away and lose it. Instead, it is required to control our
emotions time by time. Utilizing emotions can be tough if they are not
regulated, leading to conflict.
There are other ways to express emotions: Verbal and
Nonverbal expression. Words, body language, and thoughts are all connected, since
these are connected, they can tell how you act in front of people and with
one’s self. Before acting in front of someone who cannot do it that good as you,
then you can-t humiliate him/her, you should rethink about what you’re going to
say and feel empathy for that person. Be into their shoes. Reality is different
in one person’s perspective and others’ perspective can differ.
One should manage their emotions in relationships, and
if it is done correctly, you can even become an influence for other people and
inspire others to do the same thing as you do. In group projects, it is crucial
to think about others and yourself at the same time. A good leader responds to
their partner’s problems and helps them in order to fix them. That is called
Teamwork and Collaboration. If a good leader helps his partners, then a good
team progresses.
Still, even if a good leader does these things, there should
be an initiative within the team: A reason that motivates the team to go
forward: An achievement to pursue. And its members should also think about
themselves. They should think creatively, redirect their attention to something
in order to achieve their goals, and before that, they should be self-aware of
the type of social competence there is on the table, should be self-confident,
should assess their emotions accurately, and be emotionally aware, that way
they can work together as a team and reach the finish line in the best way.
Within their head, the Framework of EQ should be sorted correctly and put to
work swiftly but organized to perform in a better way, not only with one’s
self, but in social relationships.
After all these steps, that should be done to achieve
the ideal EQ, good members that are in a good team must follow them, track
them, and work cooperatively. Every good team has an influent leader and
helping members, and before they make their first step, a team should
brainstorm ideas and design a flexible planning in order to welcome any good
idea and this process should be transparent and open for many possibilities, that
way a team can classify which ideas are more beneficial for everyone.
In conclusion, Emotional Intelligence is an important
factor of one’s self. Alongside IQ, EQ can describe who we are and how we act
with others. If we manage our emotions, we can live in a better community with
a growth mindset as our north.
