The managers of professional football decided to seek
a rapprochement with the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, and several of
his ministers, to propose possibilities for solution and action in the midst of
the financial crisis that the teams are suffering and will suffer due to the
pandemic emergency caused by the new coronavirus, which brought the consequence that our professional League and Primera
B matches have been suspended.
The decision was made in a virtual meeting (via the Zoom application) in which the president of the Dimayor, Jorge Enrique Vélez,
and six club presidents participated, three from the 'opposition' group to the
management of 'Vélez' and three from the 'oficialismo'.
As of today, Dimayor and its clubs, like any other sector,
are sheltered by the emergency measures taken by the national government to
face the health emergency, among which are, for example, sending footballers on vacations and
bringing their workers forward; besides, the
possibility of renegotiating contracts by mutual agreement.
