Pesticides In Colombia
Colombia is a country that has been affected by many things throughout year: Drug trafficking, delinquency, violence, and many others. But the one that affected the country the most was drug dealing, because with this issue, delinquency, violence, and many other things were brought to us.
Due to drug trafficking the government started using pesticides to kill all the illegal crops that existed. These pesticides not only killed the crops, but also they started killing people. This article is going to show you how and why these pesticides are so dangerous.
Pesticides are toxic chemicals that kill crops, but they can also kill humans. Their toxicity harms many people that live near the crops. Long term exposure can ill you so badly to the point of killing you.
Pesticides are no joke, they hurt without distinction, so look at the indigenous that live in Colombia, who were the most affected by this. The Colombian government for a while prohibited this and its use. But nowadays, they can be used if they fulfill all the demands that the government established to protect its citizens and its nature.
Now the population affected by this problematic has diminished a lot, due to the government measures. This is a really concerning topic for everyone, because it’s incredible how something that is used as a normal chemical for crops, can kill so many people, little by little, most of them farmers.
In conclusion, Colombian citizens are safer due to their
government, but even if glyphosate were safe, fumigation in Colombia would be a bad policy. The government still need to take care of what they use to fumigate, but people have to care for themselves and the way they use pesticides because they can be good for certain purposes, or really bad, depending on the way we use them.
