A vampires' short story

ORANGE RAY

SECOND PART

There is definitely no necessity of throwing books at me - the man laughed, she looked at his grey eyes and he was in his 20´s for sure. - I´m confused, what are you doing here?, this is my story, my article, I really do not care about your newspaper Sir, this is my case- said Cora determinant.

The man was not paying attention to her, he was looking at the Bran Castle. -You need to get out of here, they know you are here- he responded, looking at her, his eyes changed swiftly, one second they were grey, then dark. - You must be very foolish to think you can take my story- Cora said laughing.

Suddenly, she heard her laugh over and over again, in all the woods. Cora looked at the man, and told him with signs to help her, he took her hand and in less than a second they were hiding behind a tree. She thought it was weird how fast the guy could move from one place to another. - The souls are out, they are looking for bodies- he said clearly worried. - Vampires?- Cora whispered in shock. - They live in the Castle, and they haunt bodies when is 8:16 p.m., just like you, there were dozens more looking for the same plant- he said - Is a strategy, so they can get more and more people - Cora realized, thinking on how risky her decision was, she could have died.

Cora was overwhelmed, she heard steps, laughs, movement. She tried to look what was happening out there and she saw some figures, they were men and women standing, they were really pale and tall, with fine couture dresses, they looked like ghosts, but they were the authentic vampires. - In 1760, things were different, we were civilized people- the mysterious man said. Cora felt the emotions in his words, and then she realized something. – Wait, how do you know how 1760 was like? - She asked suspiciously, but she spoke louder than she should have and the vampires heard her, they flied and ran after her and she just looked at them with horror while tears filled her eyes.

The last thing she heard was the voice of the man at her side telling her “I will get you out of here” An orange ray was slowly making its way across Cora´s face, that same light in her face made her woke up with a jump, sweating, with her eyes wide opened.

Was this all a dream? What about the vampires? She sat on
the bed and looked at the sunrise, that precious moment when she felt safe and suddenly, her foot touched something, she looked down and saw her book, she quickly opened it and admired the sketch of the plant she did the day before…

It was not a dream, it was very real, and that young man… he was a vampire as well, but he saved her.
