War?

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THERE IS A WAR BETWEEN COLOMBIA AND VENEZUELA?

The conflict in  Venezuela has arisen situations that have had direct or indirect repercussions in our country Colombia, situations that would worsen if a war between the two countries were to occur.  In order to start, Colombia would have the American logistic aid to block communications within the  Bolivarian armed forces, which in a modern war is vital.
In addition, there are several factors that might be impacted:

  • The exodus of the population: Colombia is already
overwhelmed with the arrival, not only of more than 1 million Venezuelans, but also by the unexpected return of an equal amount of its own citizens who until recently lived in Venezuela.  In a period that is perceived as very short- only some months-Colombia will face a human tsunami, represented by  a migratory wave not seen even in the worst famines in Africa.

  • Impact on National Budget Resources: given that war demands a high budget in arms and military logistics, the designated investment budget for health, education, culture, agriculture, social impact, road development, etc., would be affected and therefore would generate  a significant delay in the    economical    development of both countries.

  •  Impact on the borders: a high border tension would be generated which would generate violence, bombings and consequent panic in the border populations, creation of illegal armed groups, etc.

  •  Impact on the economy: the commercialization of products between countries would be affected, likewise, it would impact on our economy, since multinationals and companies would be at risk of withdrawing their operations, generating unemployment and economic constriction to the country, retreating the development that  has already been achieved, the most important products of Colombia, such as oil and coffee, would be seriously affected in the stock market.

  •  Social impact: this war would result in a setback in social
work that the country has developed, so social problems such as child abuse, then the vulnerability of human rights, sexual exploitation, poor education, might be even more impacted.
  • Impact on health: as a consequence of the migratory exodus to Colombia, we would be at risk of new diseases, epidemics, etc.

In conclusion, I think that a war between Venezuela and Colombia should be avoided to the maximum, since it would not generate any advance or favorable impact on either of the two countries.

War is never a solution, violence generates more problems that ultimately affect humanity, so dialogue and peace must be encouraged instead.
