Ocho Lugares Que Me Recuerdan A Ti By Alberto Villareal
Santiago does not believe in love, thinks it is overrated. Of course, until he meets Valentina. For her, he is willing to cross the Atlantic with his friends to try to recover her. It may seem crazy...But love is not worth losing without trying, because neither Shakespeare nor Jose Alfredo Jimenez can be wrong, right?
When we started reading this story we had big expectations about it, this due to the fact that we had read good reviews about it and the author is someone we respect a lot, but then we realized that maybe it was not as good as we thought at the beginning.
First of all, the characters were not real, they were annoying, and not even one character had a good background story. The book plot was not well developed and its love story appeared out of nowhere. Santiago fell in love at first sight after spending years claiming that he did not believe in love, and for us, it made no sense.
Besides, Valentina was a character that we hated since the beginning and we just could not understand why Santiago was so obsessed with her. To conclude, the end was completely disappointing for both of us. The most remarkable thing about this book was its beautiful, meaningful phrases.
"It must be very difficult to live with the fear of not being accepted just for being who you are, for living as your mind and your dictates, and not just as society says"
Anyway, it is a light book to read in a couple of hours.
