HOW TO MAKE FROM COLOMBIA A MORE PEACEFUL COUNTRY.
Colombia is not a
peaceful country. Is this sentence completely true? The answer is no. Why?
Because only in some parts of the country, such as the regions of Cauca and
Amazonas and the zone of Choco or Cucuta are dangerous for people, and
obviously some parts of the different cities, as it happens in the whole world.
Let’s take a look at
the causes of the danger, so then we can try to solve them. Why is it dangerous in
the regions of Cauca and Amazonas? It’s dangerous because of the “Indigenas”,
indigenous people that a lot of times don’t see their rights respected. For
example, they organized a violent blockade of the Panamericana, an important road
which arrives to Popayan, the capital of Cauca, in the Holy Week, putting at
risk the tourism of this city in that important week. Fortunately, the
president of Colombia Ivan Duque, could solve this problem by promising more
rights.
Why is it dangerous in
the zone of Choco or in some parts of the Colombian cities? It’s dangerous
because there a lot of people live in poverty, and to escape it they usually
kill or kidnap for money or rob other people.
Going on, why is it
dangerous in Cucuta? It is dangerous there not because of Colombian matters, but
for Venezuelan matters; in fact, for the violent political crisis in Venezuela,
a lot of Venezuelans are migrating to Colombia, searching for a better life,
and the nearest Colombian city is Cucuta, which is located in the border
between Colombia and Venezuela. All those migrants make the security hard to
control.
Then, in the central
regions of the country there’s the “Guerrilla”; soldiers that are fighting the
actual government by killing or kidnapping innocent people.
To make Colombia a
more peaceful country, the government should grant the rights of the Indigenous
people, who have to be protected. It should invest more
money, not only for the security in the cities, but also for the education and
the integration of people in difficult conditions in the job world to escape
poverty.
Finally, the
government should try to make some really
successful deals with the Guerrilla, but these treaties don’t have to put at risk anybody. That’s the difficult part.
People should also
help; for example, by supporting peaceful organization or by trying to be
politer with other people or by spreading positivity, in order to not promote
fights.
In my opinion, as a
foreigner who has lived ten months in this country, Colombian people are one of
the nicest in the world, even if they’re facing some problems with the
corruption of the government and I think that with a little effort, Colombia
can surely change and be a more peaceful country.
