The G20 SUMMIT
The G20 or Group of 20 is the main international forum for economic, financial and political cooperation, it addresses the major global challenges and makes an effort to generate public policies to solve them, it is made up by the European Union and 19 countries which are: Germany, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, South Korea, United States, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, United Kingdom, Russia, South Africa and Turkey.
Its origins were back in 1999 in a meeting of Secretaries of Finance from the G7 (or the group of seven) where they saw the need to rely on a more inclusive group, that would generate a major impact in society's problems, and with this it started as a forum for Secretaries of Finance and Presidents of central banks.
Recently (From Nov. 30th to Dec. 1st, in Buenos Aires, Argentina) there was a very important meeting, where the leaders of each of the 19 countries plus the European Union joined to present their concern about climate change and their commitment., but not all of them were in agreement to sign a collective document where everyone could support the same policies for a real compromised word in order to face climate change, so this summit was very weak and as almost always, in the end the only thing where they got a deal was relating to change the rules of modern commerce so that it fits the new needs of a changing globalized world.
