Old Man Of The Temple: Guide

Guide for Responding

By R.K. Narayán

One of the greatest story-tellers of the 20th century, R.K. Narayan, turned 94 on October 10th, 2001, year in which he passed away.

The hallmark of his writing is that he successfully fused his own personal philosophy with his literary endeavour. In fact, if sincerity is the touchstone of all great literature, then this quality in Narayan, uncompromising, gently ironic, sympathetic and humanistic, shines through all his work. It will ensure that Malgudi (His gratest story) will live on.
