Catalina was walking down the street, happy and positive as ever, when a car drove past her and put out a lot of smoke. She coughs.
Catalina: Hey! (coughing)
The girl driving the car turned out to be Catalina’s friend, Alejandra. She pulls over to say hi.
Catalina: Alejandra? Is that you?
Alejandra: Catalina, hi! Sorry about the smoke, that car is very old.
Catalina: It’s okay, I’m fine. But, you should care more about the Earth, don’t you think?
Alejandra: I don’t know, I don’t like walking.
Catalina: (laughs) You don’t have to walk, there are other ways to move around the city.
Alejandra: Like what? A horse?
Catalina: An electric car, maybe? A lot of people nowadays have one.
Alejandra: I heard they’re expensive, I don’t have the money. If I had, I would’ve changed that horrible car a long time ago.
Catalina: Fair enough. What about a bike?
Alejandra: You know, when I was a little girl I loved riding my bike, that’s not a bad idea. I’m going to start saving money to someday buy that electric car, though.
Catalina: Amazing. The Earth says thank you.
Alejandra: Right… bye, Cata. It was nice seeing you.
Catalina: Same here.
They both started walking in different directions and Catalina entered a cafe.
Catalina: Good morning.
Parra: Hello!, welcome to Décimo, what can I get you?
Catalina: Can I please have a black coffee?
Then, a guy approaches them.
Juanse: Excuse me, m’am. Can you give me a straw, please?
Parra: I’m sorry, sir, but we don’t give straws anymore.
Juanse: What? Why? I need one right now.
Parra: We stopped giving them when we became an eco-friendly establishment. In a few days we’ll get paper straws instead.
Juanse: Why is everyone doing that dumb stuff? We’re going to die anyway. Just give people the straw they ask for.
Catalina: Don’t be rude! She just told you they don’t have that type of straw. If you want a plastic one and contaminate it then go elsewhere.
Alejandra (in the background): Get lost, squidward!
Parra: We’re just trying to help the planet. Hope you understand.
Juanse: Whatever.
Catalina: No, it’s not “whatever” (mocks him). The straw harms the planet since it takes 1000 years to decompose. That's the reason why the paper straws were created, which decompose in 12 months.
Juanse: Wow! Thanks for the information. I didn't know that. (said sarcastically)
A few days later, Juanse went to the beach but he saw that there was plastic all over the place.
Juanse: Ew, this beach is so unclean.
Catalina: Unbelievable, right? This is what a simple and “harmless” straw can do to our world. Do you like my information now?
Juanse: Yeah, I do. I apologize for being rude some days ago, you were right. I will take this into account and as a lesson.
Catalina poses like Superman.
