Is it too late to prevent climate change?
Climate change is a hot topic in our society nowadays, the relevance of this topic in our lives is crucial for contributing to its solution. Although governments, environmentalists, communities in social media and people in general are more conscious and look for ways to help out, everyday we come closer to the realization that maybe we screwed up and that there’s no way to stop climate change.
We’ve already made major climate changes and more that are still yet to come. “There is a time lag between what we do and when we feel it, but that lag is less than a decade” (NASA). This actively demonstrates that the climate effects we’re feeling at this moment were caused more or less a decade ago, so if you cut a tree and contribute to deforestation you won’t see the real effects but next generations will for sure. Climate change to date are irreversible on the timescale of the people today but the actions and the decisions we take today dictate what our future generations will live with in regards to climate.
This has created an awareness in our community causing big enterprises to make their products more eco friendly and biodegradable, and creating small businesses that from the start are focused on making products with the same purposes as big companies but biodegradable. People have switched to the most eco-friendly options and raised their voice to demand the government to contribute on a bigger scale to this big movement.
To sum up everything that has been stated so far, it is not possible to prevent the effects of climate change happening today however we can make a difference in regards to how it will be, it’s improvement or if it deteriorates. All we have left is to do our contribution and have faith in the future.
