Computers are being used more and more in education and so there will soon be no role for the teacher in education.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, the majority of educational institutions have had to accommodate classes, meetings, and different types of activities into virtuality as the global covid-19 pandemic took place in the first quarter of the year 2020. Computers rapidly were considered as a crucial part of the academic area, as a considerable number of students started to rely more on this electronic to research and attempt to get perfect grades. These variations in the learning environment have brought concern regarding the possible decrease of the influence of teachers in education.
People tend to believe the role of teachers started to possess less importance as computers have helped students to learn quicker in comparison to a presential classroom. An example of this situation would include the slow advancement of an entire class due to the different intellectual capacities in between students. But, with the aid and acquired dependence on computers for studying, learners have the ability to progress at their own pace without the necessary participation of a teacher in the process.
However, I believe this is not the case for every student, as the presence of a teacher is essential for the development of good practices and proper learning of different class topics. Different from computers, teachers help to build social and communicative skills, considering the latter mentioned are human beings deserving of respect and attention. Inside a classroom, students learn to develop teamwork skills, long-lasting friendships, among other factors that benefit them in the long term.
In conclusion, the role of teachers in education will continue to be important as years pass by because no machine will be able to replace the genuineness of the human being, the human interaction, and its consequences.
