Chicoria

 An American Folk Tale


Theme: Education doesn't fight with anyone, never forget your manners, be humble and never underestimate people.

Voice: a descriptive pretentious voice

Mood: Interesting and unexpected

Tone: Optimistic, reflective and honest

Kinds of Conflict:

man vs man: 

  • The rancher not inviting any poor people to dine at the table

  • Chicoria competing with Gracia for being best poet

  • The servant and Chicoria’s bet

man vs society: ’’ The poor are not invited to share the reach man’s food ‘’

man vs nature: A man not being kind and honorable to his equal and own kind, just because of money and a stereotype.

man vs super-power: Chicoria  against the power of a white man and his people whose complex of superiority are high.

Climax: When the rancher and Chicoria are talking about Mexico and then the rancher finally realizes everything.

Resolution: The rancher then realized his lack of manners and took the hint. He finally apologix¡zed and invited the rest of the mexicann crew to dine at the table. Chicoria recited his poetry, putting Gracia to shame and won the bet of the servant as well.
