A Folk Tale's Analysis

 Brer Possum’s Dilemma

Theme: Never trouble until trouble troubles you.

Voice: Regular speaking voice and descriptive voice.

Mood: Wandering, believing and repeating mood.

Tone: Sympathetic and nervous. 

Conflicts:

Inner: Man vs self: Brer Possum couldn't stand to see someone in a situation

External:

man vs man: Brer Possum debating if he should help Brer snake.

man vs society: everyone  knew that Brer snake was of no good and still Brer possum decides to go against the tides and helps Brer snake

man vs nature: Brer Possum vs Brer snake natural nature and instinct to bite

man vs super-power: Brer against the constant mind set of sticking his not right where he wasn't called.

Climax: Brer possum puts Brer snake in his pocket to stay warm but then Brer Snake commenced to crawl out the pocket and faced Brer Possum and hissed

Resolution: Brer Possum got a good look at the snake,  looking so pitiful, and Brer Possum began to feel sorry for Snake. So Brer Possum picked him up and put him in his pocket. Brer Snake laid quiet so quiet and still that Brer Possum forgot that he was carrying him around. But all of a sudden, Brer Snake hissed. “I’m a-goin’ to bite you.” But Brer Possum was confused, he asked Why would  he bite him if he helped him. Brer Snake hissed: “You knowed I was a snake before you put me in your pocket.”

  4. Why doesn't Brer possum want to help Brer snake at first?  Because he is a snake, evil and could eat him.
