Harry and Meghan Confirmed not to Represent the British Royal Family Again

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex temporarily relinquished their royal privileges and obligations in March of last year, in order to work towards becoming financially independent.

With the "transition period" agreed with Queen Elizabeth II nearing completion, the monarch confirmed that her grandson and wife will no longer "continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service."

The confirmation means that Harry and Meghan, who reside in California, will return their honorary military appointments and royal endorsements, which will be redistributed among active members of the royal family.

The couple, for their part, said that "the service is universal" and offered to continue supporting the organizations they had represented.

As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the UK and around the world, said a spokesman for the couple.

Harry will also have to resign from his positions as Honorary Air Commander of the Royal Air Force at Honington, Commodore-in-Chief of Small Ships and Diving for the Royal Navy, President of The Queen's Commonwealth Trust and patron of the Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League.

Meghan, for her part, will cease to be Vice President of The Queen's Commonwealth Trust and patron of the Royal National Theater and the Association of Universities of the British Commonwealth.

The couple; however, has signed millionaire commercial contracts with Netflix and Spotify and the announcement also comes just days after the dukes revealed they are expecting their second child.
