UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN
Until we meet again is a Thai BL (Boy Love) series, narrating the story of two modern-day college students who discover that they are the reincarnated souls of two past lovers who had committed suicide.
This series garnered much attention in Latin America and East Asia and was categorized by many as a " realistic heart-touching story" (Well, not too realistic, but we can understand the intention).
I have to say that I loved this series.
Let's start by saying that the idea of "reincarnation" is not believed by many, and only certain religions believe in the idea that we have only one soul and many bodies. But in Thailand, this is a common belief, as well as the Legend of the red thread.
The basis of this legend is that thanks to the Gods, everyone's little finger is tied to an invisible red string that will lead him or her to another person to which the other end is tied and with whom they have an important story. And no matter how many times you reincarnate, the string will not break. Beautiful legend.
The story focuses mainly on this legend, and also on the difficulties of a gay couple surviving in Thailand during the late 80s.
And the most heartbreaking part is that due to all the discrimination that this couple suffered, from society and their own family, they saw suicide as a solution.
The things that I loved about this series was mainly the acting that the 4 actors offered. You can feel the emotions that they were trying to transmit, and their crying is so heartbreaking, that you will cry along with them. And the story also has secondary couples that you will love to see and an unforgettable friendship.
One interesting thing about "Until we meet again" (Even the title is sad) is that you will not only see rising actions, conflict, and a resolution. You will also see character development in the main characters and the family, something that you won't see in all series.
If you love romantic ( and sad dramatic) series, you will love this one.
