Life is Sweet at Kumansenu's Analysis

 Inner Conflict

Man vs Itself: Bola against all the self doubt she had to face, and the pain it provoked her,  the pain of losing six children, and the feeling that everything was her fault, of not being good enough for her husband, of never being able to satisfy him. The pain of losing her only son many years later, the confused feeling when she realized her son had been dead when he visited her. Her life was not easy at all, and that left her with scars that no one but her could see.

Man vs Man: Bola against Musa, that during the whole story tried to convince her that her son was nothing but a curse.

Man vs Nature: When nature teamed up with the supernatural to announce that her son was finally leaving, since it started to rain but he wasn’t getting wet. Which only further confused Bola.

Man vs Superpower: Throughout the story we can see how the supernatural instead of being an enemy, is always a confirmation that things will be alright, the first time it manifested itself was the moment when Maji was born and he still had the scar on the buttcheck, and at last when Maji was able to visit her mother to thank her one last time and spend his last moments on earth with Asi.

Man vs Society: Bola is fighting a constant war against the public opinion, at first it was during her early pregnancies, the town believed she was cursed and that was the reason she was being punished, then she fought the pressure that Musa was applying for her to mutilate her dead son's body.

After Maji was born there was a time she felt at “peace” with society, she had a son she could feel proud of, even show off, and a beautiful granddaughter. But after the announcement of her son’s death, the fight started again, since no one believed her when she told everyone that Maji had come to visit her that Friday.

And last, when Musa tried to convince her that even as a ghost, her son was still a curse.

-Next day, Bola goes to the market and Maji takes his daughter Asi to visit mountainous areas.

-At night it starts raining, Bola goes check on Maji but, he isn't in his room, so she looks outside.

Climax

Maji was standing in the rain but for some reason he wasn't wet. Bola calls him inside but her son replies that he had come there just to thank her because she did not cut his legs in the previous life. Then he disappears.

Falling actions

-Bola is confused, but decides to go back to sleep but before she plans to call Addai to inform this event on Sunday.

-The next morning her daughter in law comes to tell her that Maji died on Friday

-Meji died exactly at 12 o'clock when the glass of the window fell down and broke his neck, and the sharp edge almost cut his head off.

-Villagers think that Bola’s mind is out of track because of shock at the moment.

Resolution

Musa, the Magician, tells her that this event happened since she did not follow him and he said the spirit has come back to make fun of her by keeping Maji alive. However, she feels happy about arriving with her son and loving him too much, and believes the only reason Maji came back was to thank her.

New Ending: After the funerary rituals, Asi went to bed, she still couldn’t believe that her beloved father was dead, even when only a day ago, they had been playing without a single worry. She took the collar in her hands and looked at the inscription. A-S-I. She did not realize she was crying until she heard herself sobbing, with that symphony she cried herself to sleep.

In her dream, she was at the front door with her grandma, and her father, enjoying the breeze. She woke up to the sound of Bola singing and at that moment she knew that it wasn’t only a mere dream.
