Analysis of A Short Story

Theme:

To solve a problematic situation, you must have determination and use other’s point of view and advice (teamwork).

Use a metaphor and personification to explain human behavior, virtues and flaws.

Inner Conflict

Man against self/ internal conflict: The blue jay self-discussed, concerning not actually hearing the acorn when it descended through the mysterious hole , leading him to look up for more, and more acorns, make the experiment again,  just to discover the sound it's the same, and that maybe the hole it's that deep.

External Conflict

Man against man: The blue jay self-stress about the acorn and the hole, which is a metaphor of how congressmen act against one another, solving nothing but rather favoring themselves, instead of the constituents who elect them.

Man against nature: How the blue jay fought and experimented with the hole, every time waiting for something different than just not hearing their acorns.

Man against society: the blue jay agreed with the whole blue jay community and in fact, they helped develop a series of events that led them to understand what was truly happening.

Rising Action: Began when the blue jay didn’t hear the acorn fall.

Climax: the point at which five thousand blue jays gathered to resolve the mystery of the hole and the acorns

Falling Action: occurred when an old blue jay discovered the perplexing enigma

Resolution: At the beginning the narrator explains that  blue jays have a marvelous lexis and emotional intelligence, just as good as a human, which turns out right, at the end the blue jays overcome the struggle with the mystery hole, all achieved with teamwork and during the lecture with a clear sufficiency of emotion in the blue jay.

Voice: The speaker of the story seemed to be very calm, but enough to express every emotion the bluejay expressed throughout the story, including frustration, joy, tiredness. etc.

Mood: The speaker's attitude showed how wonderful the blue jays lexis was, and how they could overcome problem solving skills and team working
