Summary on The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
By Robert Louis Stevenson
Mr. Utterson was walking with Mr. Enfield by the mysterious door, and they both noticed that through one of those windows there was Dr Jekyll, who told him to come outside, and even though he wanted to, he didn't come out. Then the smile on Jekyll’s face changed with a look of terror. Utterson and Enfield were disgusted by what they had seen, so they left. They had a long conversation about the mystery, and both had questions about the relationship between Jekyll and Hyde.
One night, Poole comes to Utterson because Jekyll had locked himself in the basement and wouldn’t come out, so he only sent notes to Poole to look for a pure chemical. Utterson goes with Poole and when they arrived, strange sounds came from the lab. Poole thought that the person locked there was Hyde, and it was true.
Both thought that Jekyll was killed, so they opened the door to find out what was happening. They saw that Hyde had killed himself and saw an envelope addressed to himself, in which it said to read the document that Lanyon had provided. Also, they found some signals that bad things were going to happen and the complete name of Utterson was revealed.
Lanyon received a letter from his old friend giving him some instructions for some favors he must do. One night, Hyde knocks on his door, and asks if he has it. He drank the powder and transformed into Jekyll.
Lanyon
concludes his narration by simply stating that what was said to him in the next
hour, could not bring his mind to set on paper. This was what had brought about
his sudden demise, his death.
