Sensory Elements In Children In The Woods

Taste

Smell

Touch

Hear

Sight

Biting down into a taste so much wilder than last night’s potatoes

Rural area to urban area

I have never forgotten the texture of this incident

The woman spoke out

Watching the teeth of an animal

The thick perfume of propolis that drifts downwind from spring willows.

you could feel the Creek vibrating in the silt and sand while making handprints beside the footprints

If one speaks it should only be to say...

The brightness of wood chips scattered by beaver

.

Caught by a pattern of sunlight trapped in a windowpane

I think how much I have seen disappear in my own life

Insights

In our opinion, we found very interesting how the author talks about his experience in a different place than he was used to. Also how he was discovering things through activities and at the same time, awakening children’s interest in nature through senses

Even though we do not really like the idea of going from an urban life to a rural life, we do find very entertaining the story, probably because of the way in which it is represented in this essay.

We also find very strange, nonetheless wonderful, how the author thinks, the way he expresses things in this essay makes us believe that he is very wise in life; for instance, the phrase “If one speaks it should only be to say, as well as one can, how wonderfully all this fits together.” We are convinced that this part of the essay is greatly profound, real and touching.
