Eternal Summer
Margot stared at the ceiling remembering the events of the past, she still couldn’t believe what had happened to her, it all felt like a nightmare, that she would wake up and the sun would go out the next day.
But it wasn’t a nightmare, it all was real.
Being a native from Earth, the sun was a crucial part of her life, of who she was, and leaving it all behind to go to Venus was the hardest moment of her life. To live on Venus was ok, acceptable, but there was a tiny little detail that she didn’t like.
The sun would come out only for two hours every seven years, and she had missed that day. Not because she fell asleep, or was busy at the moment, but because her classmates decided that she didn’t deserve to see the sun, and locked her in a closet during that time. They went out, had fun, enjoyed the precious sun, and left her there.
Alone.
Cold.
When they took her out she could see the regret in their faces, they were ashamed, because they realized that they banned her from one of the best feelings ever. But it was already too late. They had ruined her completely, she felt empty, useless, without a purpose.
She knew she had to get up and get ready for school, but only thinking about spending a whole day with those horrible people made her blood boil, but it was unavoidable, and in no time she was at the front door of her school.
When she went inside the classroom she noticed something different from the usual, she recognized her as a popular girl of the class, but most important, the day before she had been absent, and spent the day at her home due to a flu.
She wasn’t there yesterday when Margot had been locked in the closet. She wanted to talk to Margot, but she was uneasy about it, she probably heard about what had happened and felt pity for her, Margot didn’t need pity. Truth was, Alyn did hear about the event, but she didn’t feel pity, she felt angry with the rest, and decided that she was going to befriend Margot.
Alyn wanted to get close to Margot, but she just ignored her and politely declined her invitations to play or join her for lunch, but this did not demotivate Alyn. Everyday she approached her partner with a friendly smile.
Margot slowly lowered her guard with Alyn, since she felt that the girl was being honest with her, she did not seem to have double intentions and she was the only one who did not call her a liar about what she said about the sun and did not help the other guys to lock her in the closet. and this was only the beginning of their story.
They both grew up, and they were inseparable. Margot had many fears but with Alyn by her side she began to have confidence, Alyn was very impulsive but Margot taught her how to be more assertive with her actions, bringing out the best side of the other. That was how that feeling of friendship began to change to something stronger, unintentionally, without warning and without noticing. But unconsciously making them happier. Love
Seven years later, both sixteen, and while looking at the bright sun, confessed their feelings for each other. They were happy. But their life was about to get harder.
One day, Margot simply disappeared, leaving no trace, Alyn was desperate searching for her, but she found no clue, the only thing she had from her was a charm bracelet, with a bright sun in the middle, it was here most precious possession, and with it felt that Margot was still with her.
Seven years later, Alyn 23, (Margot possibly 23) , she was outside enjoying the sun, feeling Margot closer than ever, when out of the sudden, the charm bracelet opened, and a ray of sunshine reflected on it, revealing a secret message that could only be seen under the sun’s light.
Come find me at the eternal summer
Alyn didn’t need to be told twice, packed her thing and bought a ticket to Ohio (Margot was born there) with her life savings, leaving Venus behind to go find her soulmate. And there she was, waiting for her at her old Ohio house, that she had described so many times to Alyn, enough times that she found it.
Margot had to run from Venus since a criminal was chasing her father, that’s why she left instructions for 7 years later, when everything was safe. And there they lived a peaceful life together, in a place where even in the coldest winter, the sun will be there, shining for them. An eternal summer.
