My Thoughts on Enola Holmes
"Enola Holmes" was one of the most awaited movies of 2020. Based on the Young Adult novel series by Nancy Springer. Enola Holmes is about Sherlock Holmes's younger sister, that needs to solve a case... all Alone. She happily lives alone with her mother, until one day she wakes up and her mom is gone! With only a few clues, a couple of disapproving older brothers who’ve returned to check on her, and bravery in her heart, she is decided to find her.
Worth to watch it. This movie has a really powerful meaning, family boundary, and woman empowerment. I liked the fact that her name is “alone” spelled backwards. I see this as a way to say that us, as women, don't need a husband or anyone to become important or someone, and taking into account the setting of the story...that was a hard time to be a woman, you had to behave "like a lady" and you weren't allowed to do a lot of things.
I liked the cast A LOT. Millie Bobby portrayed perfectly the character of Enola. Enola`s mother was portrayed by one of my favorite actresses, Helena Bonham Carter. And I know you will fall in love with the handsome Louis Partridge...because I did!
At over two hours, “Enola Holmes” does run a bit too long. It also turns weirdly violent toward the end but was a well-enjoyed movie.
You can watch it on Netflix or Cuevana.
