The Legend of La Madre del Agua
This legend takes place in the river and tells the story of a beautiful woman that lived during the time Colombia was still a colony and the Kingdom of Spain ruled over us. She fell in love with a native man, and together, they had a beautiful child, so they couldn't be more blissful.
But that happiness was just the quiet before the storm, her grandfather would never allow her to marry him, and even less to have a kid with this indian man. He disapproved this romance and had to stop it, but in order to do so he separated her from both, throwing her baby into the river.
Blinded by desperation, when she found out about what happened, she ran away from her family and jumped into the river, where she transformed into an amphibian, and there she stayed, waiting.
Waiting for her lover to find her and begging for a son to be loved, so she attracts them with music and butterflies. To those that have seen that face through the water, they said that they went sick, so days later, they finally went insane, returning and jumping in the water, unable to forget her.
