Countries, Coronavirus, and its Effects on Sports

How  Has Coronavirus Affected Sports


From the Champions League to Formula 1, all kinds of calendar changes have been seen, including suspension or postponement of competitions, closed-door events or changes of venues. So far, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games still stand.
These are the most important events that were affected by the coronavirus:

The Copa América scheduled to be played this 2020 in Colombia and Argentina, will be postponed until 2021 when      will be played from June 11th to July 11th in next year.

 UEFA decided that the European tournament will be postponed to 2021 and  will be also played from June 11 to July 11 next year.


Argentina: The Ministry of Sport ordered the suspension of
soccer in the country.
Bolivia: The FBF suspended activity for the rest of March.

 Brazil: suspended national tournaments, state tournaments are played behind closed doors.
 Chile: Soccer is suspended since March 18th.
 Colombia: temporary suspension of the league.
 Ecuador: suspended the league, after playing behind closed doors.
 Peru: the league was suspended.
 Paraguay: As of March 11, public activities with massive attendance were suspended for 15 days.
 Uruguay: canceled football indefinitely.
 Venezuela: all activity was suspended.
Turkey suspended all its tournaments.


The NBA suspended the season, several players tested positive for coronavirus. The league announced in March 12th that it will have a minimum of 30 days without activity.

The International Basketball Federation (FIBA), canceled all its activities.
