Music For The Youth

Billie Eilish’s Concert In Bogota

On June the 7th, 2020, there’s going to be a very special event, whose  supporters are counting the days, hours and minutes left for a concert in Bogota, Colombia, and everyone is wondering if Billie Eilish concert is worth the hype or if it is overrated.
Being just 17 years old, Billie has made it number one in Billboard 100 and she receives thousands of streams daily, in her various platforms like Soundcloud, Youtube, and Spotify. She has many singles such as “Bad guy”,  “bury a friend”, “COPYCAT”, “ocean eyes”, and “you should see me in a crown”, which have made their way into people’s playlist, making her first album“WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” a total hit.

Recently, she has announced the dates for her tour “Where
Do We Go” and in the list many Latin American countries were included. In the case of Colombia, her performance will be held in Movistar Arena, but the only concern from her supporters is that there are only 5,000 tickets available. So is it really worth it to run for one of the tickets before they are sold? If we analyze Billie’s music style we can see that people are not really familiar with her dark vibe and heavy aesthetics and because of that there are many assumptions about her and how she must be like.

As an artist, there’s nothing more important than not caging your feelings and expressing authentically what’s inside you, but there has to come a point where your audience’s reception to your work is put into consideration. Billie writes (sometimes with her brother) twisted songs, by which many young people can relate.

Another thing that results interesting about her, is her particular fashion style. She always wears baggy clothes and suits, and fans love it. But she’s not just doing it just to look cool. There’s a reason why Billie dresses the way she does and she just opened up about it more than once, she is a body positivity advocator and with her style she tries to show people that what matters is her talent, and in that way people won’t be able to judge or sexualize her.

There’s is no doubt Billie has conquered the music world in part by doing everything she’s not supposed to. With her dark and weird music, she brings to teenagers more of a gothic, vulnerable, and edgy style; of course, she’s going to receive lots of critics, because of her haunting visuals and some sinister lyrics, but she shows a twist to the pop genre, and surprisingly that has captivated a lot of fans, so if you are interested in a not typical kind of music and perhaps enjoy Billie Eilish’s songs already, you should go to her upcoming concert and experience those songs in a live show, alongside with others who do as well.
