True Friends?
Once
upon a time, a girl called Lizzie wanted
to be the best at everything, so she wanted to beat her friends in all she
could at school and in order to do that she started to study plenty of things
to be the best of the class; therefore, she spent the whole vacations studying
and because of that when she came back to school she was the best just like she
wanted; then, she had achieved her goal, she also started making many friends
and she became popular because of her intelligence.
Her
best friends were Betty and Veronica, who became best
friends at school, but
they weren’t that close before: They started making sleepovers, they went to
parties, and the made everything together.
One day, they started asking for
many favors, in specific, academic favors, so they began asking her to do their
math homework and she did it because for her, it was just a favor, an it was
really easy but the problem was that it became something that happened on daily
basis and she was tired of that, so she told them she was not going to do their
homework anymore, so they got angry at her and they told her that they were not
going to be their friends anymore if she stopped doing their homework.
Lizzie was really sad because she didn’t want
to be alone or
to lose her friends, but she didn’t want to be their slave either
nor to do their homework because if she did that she would be doing her friends
a damage because they were doing nothing, and they wouldn’t learn anything if
she kept doing their homework. She was confused and she didn’t know what was
the right thing to do, so she told her mother the situation and her mother told
her that if they were real friends they would stay with her because of whom she
was and not because of the advantage that they could take of her.
The
next day, she went to talk with her “friends” but they didn’t want to talk to
her, they spent the whole day doing things just to ignore her. She didn’t beg
them though, she went home feeling good with herself because she preferred to
be alone than to be hanging out with fake friends. To ignore the situation of
her loneliness, she started researching
about things that she liked, one of them was the environment since she liked all things that involved
climate change, pollution, etc.
Finally, after that she came to school and started
making campaigns about that and because of those she made real friends, that
liked her because of whom she was.
