MEMORIES. Poem by Isabella Duarte and Natalia Rojas

MEMORIES

Was with you that I laughed the most,
Was with you that I smiled the most,
Was with you that I was myself the most,
It was with you that I loved life the most.

I said nothing, I said everything,
each hour, minute and second,
you were there.

You were my rock as no one could,
You were my shoulder without a second thought,
You even were my eyes every time I was blinded,
but overall, you were my best friend,
and gave me a new frame of mind.

Strangers thought I was quiet,
Friends thought I was outgoing,
but you were the only one who knew
I was insane.

I could call you my bestie,
but every time it seemed more off,
you had been with me for six years and
I hadn't given you the privilege
to be part of my blood.

That's when I knew life without you
 was going to be difficult,
I knew I could survive without a boyfriend,
but without the stomach ache
I got from laughing with you,
I couldn't.

Twenty years from now,
I can look back and remember
you could turn every frown into a smile,
you could lift me up with one finger,
you could never let myself loose faith,
and you splitted up my grief and took it with all grace.

Memories are what I have left,
the best ones yet,
one day I'll look at your pictures
and I'll tear up 'cause I'll never forget the impact
you made in may life.
