A Little's Death
A thunder rang.
Mark woke up suddenly because of the loud noise, and
BamBam, his little white cat, who was sleeping in his lap jumped and got under
the bed, scared to death.
Mark got on his knees and took him out of his bed, he
passed his hands over his cat’s head until he started to purr, he picked up the
book he had been reading before falling asleep and went to bed with BamBam
curled next to him, without having a clue about what was going to happen, he
opened the book and continued with his reading.
The second thunder ran
Mark had a terrified BamBam between his hands, trying
to calm him down. Mark's phone beeped because of a text message from his best
friend Jackson, it said
"JB called me, he told me that Jin is out of
himself, Tae finally died, be careful, I don’t like the way he sounded, that
was not a normal advice"
Mark got nervous, tried to continue his reading but
was completely unable to concentrate on it, so he put it away and got up with
BamBam between his hands and went to the kitchen in order to serve himself some
tea in order to calm down, he took a sip from the cup and closed his eyes and
remembered.
The third thunder rang
BamBam was already getting used to the loud noises, so
he almost didn’t move.
Mark remembered that terrible night when Jin, his
neighbor, entered the house in the middle of the party, all wet because of the
terrible rain outside, but even then you could distinguish the tears rolling
down his face.
He started yelling desperately, looking at everyone
with pure fear in his eyes while saying
-Help me, help me please! Someone broke into my house
and has my little brother trapped in the basement, he doesn’t know I saw him,
please, I need to rescue him!
But everyone was drunk, really drunk, and they just
ignored Jackson. But Mark wasn’t. Not at all.
The fourth thunder rang
This time, BamBam didn’t move at all, but his owner
jumped and spilled a little bit of tea in his hands and got burned, he hissed
and opened the taps and put his hand under it, waiting for the cold water to
calm down his pain, but he couldn’t stop thinking in that terrible night.
Jin realized that he wasn’t drunk and approached him,
Mark knew Tae, Jin’s little brother, he was one of the most adorable kids he
had ever saw, and he was brilliant, he had a bright future ahead, so he
followed him after getting an umbrella and calling the police, and carefully
they both got into Jin's house.
The fifth thunder rang
Jin was going to distract the intruder and Mark will
hit him in the back of the head with a bottle, they didn’t have time to wait
for the police, from the living room they could hear Tae's yells for help, he
was only twelve. They silently went down the basement and Jin got in and with
his voice trembling demanded the intruder to let them go, he laughed and turned
his back to the door in order to talk and probably also chain Jin, it was the
perfect timing for him to react, but he froze, and when he decided to do
something, the intruder saw him, knocked him out and shot Tae.
They should have waited for the police.
The sixth thunder rang
The police got in just a second after, chained the
killer and they took Tae to a clinic, but his
condition was serious, it was
possible he wouldn’t make it, and that day, the light of Jin's life got turned
off and Tae's beautiful squared smiled disappeared. Now Jin blamed him for his
death because if he had reacted as he said he would, nothing would have
happened. Above the noise of the rain he heard the back door getting opened,
Mark himself couldn’t live with the pain of being responsible of that angel's
death, so he didn’t move and waited for the knife that finished with his life,
he gulped and pronounced his last words.
“I’m sorry”
Jin ran away, scared of what he had done, regretting
the fact that he allowed the terrible feeling of revenge control him, he had
killed an innocent man.
The last thunder rang
BamBam kept sleeping, peacefully.
